Robert was born in 1740 in County Down, Ireland.  Robert's father was Hugh Bingham and his mother was Martha Jane Armour.  His paternal grandparents are Richard Bingham and <Unknown>; his maternal grandparents were John Armour and <Unknown>. He had five brothers and four sisters, named John, Hugh, Samuel, Thomas, William Bingham Biggam, Elizabeth, Agnes, Jane and Mary.  He was the fifth oldest of the ten children.  He died at the age of 67 in 1807 in Hamiltonban, Adams County, Pennsylvania.
