Hugh was born in 1742 in County Down, Ireland.  Hugh's father was Hugh Bingham and his mother was Martha Jane Armour.  His paternal grandparents are Richard Bingham and <Unknown>; his maternal grandparents were John Armour and <Unknown>. He had five brothers and four sisters, named John, Robert, Samuel, Thomas, William Bingham Biggam, Elizabeth, Agnes, Jane and Mary.  He was the sixth oldest of the ten children.  He died at the age of 51 in 1793 in Hamiltonban, Adams County, Pennsylvania.
