Joseph Roberts was born on October 8th, 1829 in Mt. Pleasant, Martin County, Indiana.  Joseph Roberts' father was Solomon George Bryant and his mother was Lavinia Roberts.  His paternal grandparents were Robert Robertson and Martha Jane Bryant. He had five brothers and two sisters, named James Robertson, Robert Robertson, Alexander Hart Robertson, Claiborne Roberts, John Robertson, Mahala and Martha Jane.  He was the youngest of the eight children. He had four half-brothers and three half-sisters, named William Mitcheltree, Lewis Henry, George Mitcheltree, Alfred Henry, Clara "Clary" Howard, Sarah Jane and Susan M..  He died at the age of 84 on October 23rd, 1913 in Celina, Collin County, Texas.  He was buried in Pilot Point, Denton County, Texas.1 2
