Mary was born before May 16th, 1452 in Scotland.  Mary's father was James II Stewart and her mother was Maria of Guelders.  Her paternal grandparents were James I Stewart and Joan De Beaufort; her maternal grandparents were Arnold of Egmond and Katharina zu Cleve. She had four brothers and a sister, named James III, Alexander, David, John and Cecilia.  She was the second oldest of the six children. She had a half-sister named Agnes.  She died in May 1488.


Mary's first family with Thomas Boyd

‌Mary and Thomas were married in a religious ceremony on April 26th, 1467 in Stirling, Stirlingshire, Scotland.


Mary's second family with James Hamilton

They had a son and two daughters, named James, Elizabeth and Jean.
