James II was born on October 16th, 1430 in Edinburgh, MIdlothian, Scotland.  James II's father was James I Stewart and his mother was Joan De Beaufort.  His paternal grandparents were Robert III Stewart and Annabella Drummond; his maternal grandparents were John De Beaufort and Margaret De Holand. He had three brothers and four sisters, named Andrew, John I, Alexander, Margaret, Isabel, Joan and Annabella.  He was the fourth youngest of the eight children.  He died at the age of 29 on August 3rd, 1460 in Roxburgh Castle, Kelso, Roxburghshire, Scotland.  He was buried in 1460 in Holyrood Castle, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.


James II's first family with Maria of Guelders

‌James II and Maria of were married in a religious ceremony on July 3rd, 1449 in Holyrood, Edinburgh, MIdlothian, Scotland.  They had four sons and two daughters, named James III, Alexander, David, John, Mary and Cecilia.
