Eli was born in 1804 in Brookfield, Madison, New York, USA.1 Eli's father was Harris Chesebro and his mother is Martha Champlin. His paternal grandparents were James Chesebrough and Lucy Pendleton; his maternal grandparents are Samuel Champlin and Mary Kenyon. He had four brothers and five sisters, named Harris, Samuel Champlin, Nathan, Jared, Patt Polly, Lydia, Rhoda Rhody, Phoebe and Catherine. He is the third youngest of the ten children.-
