Charles was born in Foggia Castle, Foggia, Apulia.  Charles' father was King Louis Eliganius ("the Lion") Capet VIII and his mother was Princess Blanche of Castile.  His paternal grandparents were King Philip Augustus Capet II and Isabella of Hainault; his maternal grandparents were King Alfonso ("the Noble") VIII of Castile and Princess Eleanor Plantagenet. He had two brothers named Louis and Robert.  He died on January 7th, 1285 in Napoli, Apulia.  He was buried in Napoli, Apulia.

‌Charles and Beatrice were married in a religious ceremony on January 31st, 1246.  They had a son named Charles.
