Gisele was born about 1060 in Bourgogne, France.  Gisele's father was Count William ("le Grand") I of Burgundy and her mother was Etienette de Longwy.  Her paternal grandparents were Count Palatine Renaud de Lombardy I of Burgundy & Macon and Alice of Normandy; her maternal grandparents were Raymond ("Towhead") Berenger II (III) and Maud of Hauteville. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Raymond, "Tete-Hardi", Ermentrude, Maud and Clemence.  She died after 1133.


Gisele's first family with Marquis Rainier of Montferrat

‌Gisele and Rainier were married in a religious ceremony about 1080.  They had a son named Guillaume.


Gisele's second family with Count Humbert ("the Fat") de Maurienne II of Savoy

‌Gisele and "the Fat" were married in a religious ceremony in 1090.  They had a son and two daughters, named Amadeus, Adelaide and Agnes.
