Her paternal grandparents were Peter Rucker and Elizabeth Fielding; her maternal grandparents were William Phillips and Susaanah Lloyd. She had seven brothers and four sisters, named Peter, Reubin, John, Benjamin, Ambrose, Isaac, Anthony, Margaret, Phoebe, Mildred and Winifred. She was the sixth oldest of the twelve children.-
