Polly was born in 1797. Polly's father was Moses David Skaggs and her mother is Mary Jane Underwood. Her paternal grandparents were Charles Skaggs and Lucinda Thompson. She has three brothers and four sisters, named Charles, John Thomas, James William, Nancy, Rachel, Mary and Sally. She had seven half-brothers and eight half-sisters, named John Thomas, James William, Charles, Lewis Byron, Stephen, John Tyler, John Thompson, Nancy M., Mary Polly, Eleanor, Rachel Sally, Eleanor, Mary Lucretia, Susan E. and Jane.-
