Eleanor was born in 1826. Eleanor's father was Moses David Skaggs and her mother is Mary Elizabeth Skaggs. Her paternal grandparents were Charles Skaggs and Lucinda Thompson; her maternal grandfather was James ,Jr. Skaggs and her maternal grandmother is Mary Unknown. She had three brothers and three sisters, named John Thomas, James William, Charles, Nancy M., Mary Polly and Rachel Sally. She had seven half-brothers and nine half-sisters, named Charles, John Thomas, James William, Lewis Byron, Stephen, John Tyler, John Thompson, Polly, Nancy, Rachel, Mary, Sally, Eleanor, Mary Lucretia, Susan E. and Jane.-
