Henry was born in 1775 in Kentucky. Henry's father was James ,3rd,Rev. Skaggs and his mother is Nancy Mayse. His paternal grandfather was James ,Jr. Skaggs and his paternal grandmother is Mary Unknown. He had six brothers and three sisters, named James ,4th, Matthew, Stephen, William, John Blackhawk, Moses Madison, Nancy, Lydia and Sarah. He is the oldest of the ten children.-
