Benjamin J. was born on September 24th, 1821 in Natchitoches Parish,Louisiana. Benjamin J.'s father was Martin C. Allen and his mother was Elizabeth Vice. His paternal grandparents were John Benjamin Allen and Sarah Jane Sommers; his maternal grandfather was Nathaniel Vice and his maternal grandmother is Jermimah Unknown. He had three brothers and six sisters, named Miles Norton, James Bud, Martin Jackson, Anna C., Mary G., Elizabeth, Nancy, Sarah Ann and Carolina Eliza Matilda Cook. He was the second youngest of the ten children. He died at the age of 70 in 1891 in Williamson Co. /Texas.-
