William E. Shafer 
William E. was born in April 1879 in Roane County, West Virginia. William E.'s father was Peter Henry Shaver and his mother was Elizabeth Haynes. His paternal grandparents were Paul Shaver and Susan Todd. He had six brothers and three sisters, named Joseph E., Jessie J., Arney A., Lemie Lloyd, Carl R., Otha Clyde, Mamie Artie, Eliza Esteline and Martha R.. He was the oldest of the ten children. He died at the age of 78 in 1957 in Roane County, West Virginia. He was buried in Billy Hunt Cemetery, Green Creek, Roane County, West Virginia.-
