Ruth was born on April 29th, 1900 in Springdale, Washington Co., Utah. Ruth's father was Alpheus Gifford and her mother is Ursula Ett Winder. Her paternal grandfather was Samuel Kendall Gifford and her paternal grandmother is Lora Ann Demille. She had a brother and four sisters, named Henry, Alpha, Mahala, Lovina and Sarilla. She was the third youngest of the six children. She had six half-brothers and six half-sisters, and also a half-sibling of unknown gender, named Riley Kendall, Samuel, Oliver, Orson, Nathan Alpheus, Cyrus, Bertha, Ingri, Hannah Jane, Harriet, Irene, Elsie and Unknown. She died at the age of 79 on May 28th, 1979 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake Co., Utah.-
