William Gatten 
William was born on September 26th, 1831 in Holmes Co., Ohio. William's father was Galentine Gatten and his mother is Sarah A. Hendrickson. His paternal grandparents were William Benjamin Gatten and Sarah Murphy. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Samuel, Isaac, James, Margaret, Lavina and Sarah Ann. He was the oldest of the seven children. He died at the age of 92 on March 25th, 1924 in St John's, Multomah Co., Oregon.-
