George was born on October 23rd, 1792 in Hope,Rowan County,North Carolina. George's father was Isaac Douthitt and his mother was Sarah Maria Frey. His paternal grandparents were John Douthitt and Mary Elizabeth Scott; his maternal grandparents were Johann Pelzer-Peter Frey and Catherine Walke. He had three brothers and a sister, named Phillip, John Peter, Benjamin and Elizabeth. He was the second youngest of the five children.-
