William was born on September 2nd, 1789 in Wheeling,Marshall,WV. William's father was Nathan Goodrich and his mother was Susannah Lucy Whetzel. His paternal grandparents were Abner Goodrich and Ruth Delano; his maternal grandparents were Johannes Martin Whetzel and Maria Barbara Bonnet. He had three brothers and a sister, named George Whetzel, James, John and Cynthia. He died at the age of 48 in 1837.-
