Cyrus' father was William Goodrich and his mother was Catherine Brothers. His paternal grandparents were Nathan Goodrich and Susannah Lucy Whetzel; his maternal grandparents were John Brothers and Mary Polly Hedges. He had a brother and a sister, named Nathan and Almira.
