Lanford Smith 
Lanford was born on May 22nd, 1915 in Monroe Co., Indiana. Lanford's father was Dalton "Dalty" J. Smith and his mother was Dessa Deckard. His paternal grandparents were William Smith and Alice Chambers; his maternal grandparents were Benjamin Deckard and Mary Polly Ann Kinser. He had two brothers and four sisters, named Alfred, Edward, Mabel, Edith, Inez and Thelma Pauline. He was the fourth oldest of the seven children. He died at the age of 76 on October 12th, 1991 in Bloomington Hospital, Bloomington, Monroe Co., Indiana. He was buried in Mt. Ebal Cemetery, Monroe Co., Indiana.General Notes

Lanford Smith, 76, of Bloomington, died Saturday at Bloomington
Hospital.
Born May 22, 1915, in Monroe County, he was the son of Dalty and
Dessie (Deckard) Smith. He was a retired employee of Carl First Quarry.
He also owned and operated his own sawmill for 30 years. He was a member
of United Pentecostal Assembly Church of Bloomington.
Survivors include his wife, Alice (Owens) Smith; four sons, James
Smith, Lester Smith and Russell Smith, all of Bloomington, and John Smith
of Springville. six daughters, Georgia Terrell, Joann Terrell, Linda
Long, Tootsie McBride, all of Bloomington, Ruby Carrier of Ellettsville
and Rosetta Wampler of Lebonan, MO; 23 grandchildren and 27
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Leroy Smith; two
brothers, Alfred Smith and Edward Smith; and one sister, Mable Deckard
Albertson.
services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at United Pentecostal Assembly
Church with the Rev. Tracy S. Noel and Frank Jackson officiating. Burial
will be at Mt. Ebal Cemetery.
Friends may call 5 - 9 p.m. today and 2 - 9 p.m. Tuesday at Greene
and Harrell Mortuary, and from noon until services Wednesday at
