Malinda Elma Varner 
Malinda Elma was born on February 25th, 1836 in Belmont County, Oho.1 Malinda Elma's father was John "Johnny" Varner Jr and her mother was Irena Emma Andrews. Her paternal grandparents were John Varner and Sarah Moore; her maternal grandparents were Richard Andrews and Polly Bailey. She had six brothers and five sisters, named Richard Lane, John Nelson, William Henry, Samuel Colson, Philip Mason Thomas, Joseph Wilson, Sarah Ann, Barbara Ellen, Rhoda Jane, Maria Emily and Axiah Emily. She was the fifth oldest of the twelve children. She died due to consumption and pancreatic cancer at the age of 49 on April 18th, 1885 in Linn County Iowa. She was buried in In an unmarked grave at Center Point, Linn County, Iowa.1 1 General Notes

Malinda was ill for years with tuberculosis and cancer although she actually died of blood poisoning.
