Roger de was born about 1116 in Tonbridge, Kent, Eng.1 Roger de's father was Richard (FitzGilbert) de Clare and his mother was Alice de Meschines. His paternal grandparents were Gilbert FitzRichard de CLARE and Adeliza Alice de CLERMONT; his maternal grandparents were Ranulph le MESCHIN and Lucy CHESTER. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Gilbert Fitzrichard de, Richard FitzGilbert de, Adeliza de, Rohese de and Alice de. He had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Roger de and Isabel de. He died about 1173 in Oxfordshire, England. He was buried in Eynsham Priory, Oxfordshire, England.1 1 General Notes
