Richard FitzGilbert de was born in 1115.1 Richard FitzGilbert de's father was Richard (FitzGilbert) de Clare and his mother was Alice de Meschines. His paternal grandparents were Gilbert FitzRichard de CLARE and Adeliza Alice de CLERMONT; his maternal grandparents were Ranulph le MESCHIN and Lucy CHESTER. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Gilbert Fitzrichard de, Roger de, Adeliza de, Rohese de and Alice de. He had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Roger de and Isabel de.
