Sydney was born in 1875 in Kingsbridge, Devon.¹

Birth Notes

Sydney's father was George Steer and his mother was Mary Smith. His paternal grandparents were Henry Steer and Sarah Lowry. He had four brothers and two sisters, named George, Charles, Francis, Thomas, Agnes and Edith. He was the second youngest of the seven children. He had three half-brothers named John, George and James.
