George Sture 
George was born before 1722 and his baptism took place on September 2nd, 1722 in Woodleigh.1 George's father was George Sture and his mother was Sarah Foale. His maternal grandparents were Philip Foale and Sarah. He had three brothers and five sisters, named William, Henry, Philip, Sarah, Elizabeth, Elizabeth, Mary and Anna. He was the second oldest of the nine children. He had a half-brother named George. He died in 1807. He was buried on April 3rd, 1807 in Modbury Devon.1 General Notes
Note added to son, but probably the father as he is described as a yeoman and the son was about 18 at this time.
The following may possibly apply to this George Sture or his father, also George Sture : Published in the Sherborne and Yeovil Mercury 18.3.1776 :-
"Whereas I, George STEERE of Coombe within the parish of Bigbury, Devon, yeoman did (without any provocation) lately at Mr WYATT's lime field, charge William ELLIOTT of Bigbury aforesaid, yeoman, with stealing sheep which charge I do hereby declare to be false and do thus publicly ask his pardon for so doing in consideration of his not prosecuting me for the same. Witness my hand this ... day of March 1776. George STEERE"
