William H was born about 1865 in Ecclesfield Yorkshire.1   William H's father was Steer and his mother was Margaret STEER. He had six brothers and three sisters, named James Ed, Fred, Francis, Ernest, Megniald, Edgar, Lydia, Florence and Kate.  He was the oldest of the ten children.
