James Ed was born about 1869 in Ecclesfield Yorkshire.1   James Ed's father was Steer and his mother was Margaret STEER. He had six brothers and three sisters, named William H, Fred, Francis, Ernest, Megniald, Edgar, Lydia, Florence and Kate.  He was the second oldest of the ten children.
