Edgar was born about 1885 in Ecclesfield Yorkshire.1   Edgar's father was Steer and his mother was Margaret STEER. He had six brothers and three sisters, named William H, James Ed, Fred, Francis, Ernest, Megniald, Lydia, Florence and Kate.  He was the youngest of the ten children.
