Kate was born about 1882 in Ecclesfield Yorkshire.1   Kate's father was Steer and her mother was Margaret STEER. She had seven brothers and two sisters, named William H, James Ed, Fred, Francis, Ernest, Megniald, Edgar, Lydia and Florence.  She was the second youngest of the ten children.
