George was born on December 17th, 1805 and his baptism took place on January 14th, 1806 in Saint Luke Old Street, Finsbury, London.1  George's father was John Henry Powell Schneider and his mother was Ann Catharine Penelope.  His paternal grandparents were John Henry Schneider and Anna Catharina Congreve. He had a brother and three sisters, named George, Anna, Charlotte and Harriet.  He was the third oldest of the five children. He had three half-brothers and a half-sister, named Henry, George, Robert and Elizabeth.
