Anna was born in 1801. Anna's father was John Henry Powell Schneider and her mother was Ann Catharine Penelope.  Her paternal grandparents were John Henry Schneider and Anna Catharina Congreve. She had two brothers and two sisters, named George, George, Charlotte and Harriet.  She was the oldest of the five children. She had three half-brothers and a half-sister, named Henry, George, Robert and Elizabeth.
