John from Charles's first marriage died in Q3/1842, and another son John (allready on the way) was immediately replaced (named after Charles's father). However, this John also died (aged almost 2), so in 1847, Charle's next and final son was also baptied John.

In 1881, John (33) stayed in 5 Turton Street, Little Bolton with his mother Mary Longworth (72, a Shop Keeper), after both fathers had died.
In 1897, another John son of Mary and Robert married Martha Haigh in Massachusetts, so this could be him after his mother died. In 1900, John born March 1847, aged 53 has a 26y old wife Martha and son Robert born Aug 1898. He is a Meat Cutter in Lawrence, Massachusetts. However, he had been here 35 years so isnt this John!

Charles Mather (1835-1895), son of Charles and Mary married four times !
31 Dec 1855, Charles Mather (20), Weaver of Halliwell married Sarah Kirkman (23), a spinster. James Mather married Esther Pasquell the same day, but probably not a closely related double marriage.
First wife Sarah had only recently died (about Jan) when 14 May 1868, Charles Mather, widower, married Jane Hyden Hardman.
In 1866, Charles was a Grocer and Widower when he married Jane Hadrman. The marriage only lasted three years before Jane died in 1871, aged 26.
In Q1 1872, Charles may have married again, this time to Susannah Nelson, daughter of James Nelson of Little Bolton.
Susannah died in Q1 1881 of in April 1881, Charles (43) was a widow and a Grocer at 41 Chapel Street, Bolton with son James Charles Mather (11) and Bella Atkinson (42, Domestic Servant).
In 1883, Charles married for the fourth and final time. He married Isabella Atkindon (i.e. Bella his domestic servant) at Bolton RO.
In 1891 Charles and Isabella (53 & 52) were at 21 Hulme Street, Charles still a Grocer. With them was Ann Baron (33), Isabell's daughter from a previous marriage to Joseph Baron.
3 July 1895, Charles Mather of Bolton Lancashire died, leaving effects of £64 to Isabella Mather widow.

In 1822, Charles was executor to John's Will, and also witness to Joseph's marriage (1840).
In 1841, Charles (55) was a Beerseller, living at Kay Street, Little Bolton. With him was his younger wife Mary (35), and James (7), Charles (5) and Elizabeth (9mo).
Recorded as a publican when his son Charles married Jane. He was a Publican in 1870 whe daughter Elizabeth marrried.
Did Charles have a brother John? John Mather, aged 66, of Kay Street died 27 Feb 1849
Charles died in 1849, and Mary married Robert Longworth at the end of the following year. In 1851, Mary and Robert Longworth had 5 of the Mather children with them.
After Cherles died, his wife Mary was a Shoipkeeper at Turton Street. This needs more investigation!

Richard is probably the son of John and Betty Mather from Deane (since he lived in Bolton West and married Betty from Anderton).
In 1841, Richard Mather (45) a weaver, was living in Bengall Square, Bolton. Wife Betty was 10y older, with Mary (22), Jane (18), and Wright (15).
In 1851, Richard and Betty (55 & 33) were at 35 Bengall Square. Betty was from Anderton. Elizabeth Lee (Granddaughter) was with them (and her parents John and Mary Lee at 28 Bengall Square).
Richard (76) was logding with his daughter Jane Barker in 1871.

Between 1871 and 1878, there are many articles about James Mather Botanist and Botanic Medicine and "composition powder" published in the Bolton Evening News.
In 1881, James (47) is a Bottanist and Druggist with wife Mary (50) at 48 Arrowsmith Terrace. With them are Nancy (23), John (20), Louisa (17), Alice (13), Annie (11) and a domestic servant.
In 1891, James (62), James Jnr (24) and Annie (22) sailed from London via Suez and Naples to Victoria, Australia on the Oruba. Is this them?
In 1891, Alice Mather (24, single) was living at 14 Claremont Street, Birkdale. Her parents James and Mary (56 & 60) were visitors. In the 1890s, Louisa, James and Alice all married in Ormskirk.
James may have relocated to Chorlton (were there are matching death records for him and Annie)

In 1851, Thoma and Margaret (both 50) were still at Bengall Square with Charles (24), Mary (21), William (18), Alice (7) and Elizabeth (4). Son James was missing, died in 1846 aged 10.
In Nov 1851 when Mary married, Thomas was a Weaver and she was from Halliwell

In 1851, William (18), son of Thomas and Margaret, was a Tin Plate Worker living at 38 Bengall Square, West Bolton.
24 Sep 1856, William and Betsy Kay marriad at St Michael, Great Lever, and their first children wee born Bolton (Darcy Lever).
In 1858 they had a son Edward whos birth was registered at Bolton and later that year his death registered at Manchester.
By 1860 they were at New Cross, Manchester where Alice and Ann were born.
