Robert was born on March 6th, 1890 in Seacombe and his baptism took place on August 11th, 1890 at St. Peter (Liverpool).1 2  Robert's father was John Cotton Cole and his mother was Ellen Stuart. He had two brothers and six sisters, named William, Thomas, Susannah, Alice, Mary, Barbra, Florence and Edith.  He was the third oldest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 55 on November 30th, 1945 in Birkenhead.3
