Thomas was born on April 9th, 1899 in Seacombe and his baptism took place on June 1st, 1899 at St. Peter (Liverpool).1 2  Thomas' father was John Cotton Cole and his mother was Ellen Stuart. He had two brothers and six sisters, named Robert, William, Susannah, Alice, Mary, Barbra, Florence and Edith.  He was the third youngest of the nine children.  He died as a war casualty, Died of wounds , at the age of 19 on June 14th, 1918 in France.
