Jane's father was William Woodworth (Woodward) and her mother was Eleanor (Ellen) Day.  Her paternal grandparents were Joseph Woodworth and Alice Dobb. She had four brothers and five sisters, named William, George, Joseph, Joseph, Ellen, Ann, Ellen, Alice and Margaret.  She was the youngest of the ten children.
