Ellen was born in December 1809 in Little Neston and her baptism took place on December 31st, 1809 in Neston.¹

Ellen's father was William Woodworth (Woodward) and her mother was Eleanor (Ellen) Day. Her paternal grandparents were Joseph Woodworth and Alice Dobb. She had four brothers and five sisters, named William, George, Joseph, Joseph, Ann, Ellen, Alice, Margaret and Jane. She was the third oldest of the ten children. She died at the age of 5 in February 1815 in Little Neston. Her burial was on February 13th, 1815 in Neston.¹
