Heinrich was born on January 25th, 1849 in Bremen and his christening took place there on May 20th, 1849.1  Heinrich's father was Heinrich Christian Frederick  Westpfahl and his mother was Metha (Margaretha) Sophie Albertine Düssmann.  His paternal grandparents were Christian Westphal and Rebecca Fricken. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Christian, Johann, Sophie, Bertha and Louise.  He was the second youngest of the six children. He had two half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Frederick, Carl, Engle and Annie.
