Louise was born on April 12th, 1845 in Bremen.1  Louise's father was Heinrich Christian Frederick  Westpfahl and her mother was Metha (Margaretha) Sophie Albertine Düssmann.  Her paternal grandparents were Christian Westphal and Rebecca Fricken. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Christian, Heinrich, Johann, Sophie and Bertha.  She was the third oldest of the six children. She had two half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Frederick, Carl, Engle and Annie.
