Betsy's father was Miles Waddington and her mother was Martha (Matty) Pickles.  Her maternal grandparents were Thomas Pickles and Mary Walsh. She had a brother and six sisters, named Joseph, Martha, Mary, Rachel, Hannah, Sarah and Maria.  She was the oldest of the eight children.  She died at the age of 62 on June 28th, 1868.
