Elizabeth was born in March 1867 in Bolton.1  Elizabeth's father was Robert Thornley and her mother was Elizabeth Welsby.  Her maternal grandparents were Walter Welsby and Maria Bolton. She had five sisters named Mary, Emma, Ann, Ada and Maggie.  She was the second oldest of the six children.  She died at the age of 79 on January 8th, 1947.2

‌Elizabeth and Paul were married in a religious ceremony on July 3rd, 1886 at St. Mary (Deane).3  They had a son and two daughters, named Robert, Mary and Annie.  There are no more children.
