George was born on February 23rd, 1827 in Huddersfield and his baptism took place on April 11th, 1827 at St. Peter (Huddersfield).1  George's father was George Stocks and his mother was Hannah Blakey.  His paternal grandparents were Benjamin Stocks and Ann Walker. He had three brothers and three sisters, named William, Joseph, John, Sarah, Elizabeth and Mary.  He was the second youngest of the seven children.  He died at 2 months old in April 1827 in Huddersfield.  He was buried on April 17th, 1827 at Woodhouse Christ Church.2
