Gerald's father was William (Willie) Henry Schofield II and his mother was Natalie Wardell Kissam. His paternal grandparents were William Henry Schofield and Ellen Buckley. He had a brother and a sister, named William and Beverly. He was the youngest of the three children. He died at the age of 86 on October 1st, 2022 in California (CA).²
