Maria was born in December 1844 in Little Neston.1  Maria's father was Richard Robinson and her mother was Maria Williams.  Her maternal grandparents were Thomas Williams and Mary Woodworth. She had a brother and two sisters, named Richard, Mary and Elizabeth.  She was the youngest of the four children.
