Elizabeth was born in 1837 in Neston.1  Elizabeth's father was Richard Robinson and her mother was Maria Williams.  Her maternal grandparents were Thomas Williams and Mary Woodworth. She had a brother and two sisters, named Richard, Mary and Maria.  She was the second oldest of the four children.
