Hannah was born in 1885 in Bolton.1   Hannah's father was James Pendlebury and her mother was Margaret Ann Dennis.  Her paternal grandparents were James Pendlebury and Hannah Yates. She had three brothers and five sisters, named Harry, James, William, Florence, Maria, Ethel, Margaret and Lena.  She was the second oldest of the nine children.
