Alf's father was Frederick (Fred) Miller and his mother was Mary (Nellie) Ellen Beard. His paternal grandparents were Joseph Miller and Jane Mather. He had a brother named Frederick. He was the older of the two children. He died at the age of 74 on December 19th, 1991 in New South Wales. He was buried in New South Wales.
