Thomas was born in 1872 in Little Hulton.¹

Birth Notes

Thomas' father was Samuel Mather and his mother was Hannah (Betsy) Kay. His paternal grandparents were William Mather and Martha Tyldesley. He had five brothers and seven sisters, named William, Samuel, Thomas, Herbert, Ernest, Amelia, Martha, Annie, Jesse, Matilda, Lizzie and Lawraett. He was the sixth youngest of the thirteen children. He died at the age of 2 in 1874 in Little Hulton.¹
