Lawraett's father was Samuel Mather and her mother was Hannah (Betsy) Kay.  Her paternal grandparents were William Mather and Martha Tyldesley. She had six brothers and six sisters, named William, Samuel, Thomas, Thomas, Herbert, Ernest, Amelia, Martha, Annie, Jesse, Matilda and Lizzie.  She was the second youngest of the thirteen children.  She died at the age of 1 in January 1882 in Bolton.²
