Sarah was born in May 1829 in Salford and her baptism took place on May 24th, 1829 at St. Thomas (Pendleton).1  Sarah's father was Henry Mather and her mother was Mary Howarth. She had six brothers and a sister, named John, Robert, Henry, Richard, William, George and Betsy.  She was the third oldest of the eight children.  She died at the age of 31 in March 1861 in Eccles.  She was buried on March 7th, 1861 at St. Thomas (Pendleton).2

‌Sarah and James were married in a religious ceremony on June 15th, 1851 at Manchester Cathedral.3   They had three sons named William, Robert and John.  There are possibly more children.
