George Mather

George was born in June 1844 in Salford.¹

George's father was Henry Mather and his mother was Mary Howarth. He had five brothers and two sisters, named John, Robert, Henry, Richard, William, Sarah and Betsy. He was the youngest of the eight children. He died at the age of 50 in April 1895 in Salford.²

- In 1861, Henry Mather (63, Widow, Dyer) was sharing a house with George Seddon. George (17) was still with his father and described as James Seddon's Brother (in law).
  
  In 1868, George Mather married Jane Stewart.
  
  25 Dec 1870, Elizabeth and Mary were baptised together while George and Jane were living at 34 Percy Street, Pendleton.
  
  In 1871, George and Jane (25 & 27) were lodging at 34 Percy Street, Pendleton with Mary (2) and Elizabeth (4, but should be 4 months)
  
  1869 to 1876, George and Jane had 4 children (MMN = STEWART) but the Jane died and in 1881 George was apparently married to Ann, but there is no marriage.
  
  In 1881, George and Ann (39 & 40) were at 16 Gavin Street, Salford with 4 children (Mary was elsewhere).
  Ann may be the wife of William Mather, not George, and Mary Ellen their daughter (MMN = PURSLOW).
